My name is Jayden Yu from Palos Verdes Estates, California (Southern California), and I’m a 16-year-old student graduating with the Class of 2026. Tennis has been a major part of my life for the past 11 years. I picked up a racket when I was just a kid, and it’s been my passion ever since. Over the years, I’ve committed myself to the sport, training consistently, competing in tournaments, and working hard to improve my game both mentally and physically. Tennis has taught me discipline, focus, and resilience lessons that go far beyond the court.
Outside of tennis, I also enjoy playing golf. It’s a completely different pace, but I appreciate the challenge it brings. Golf requires a lot of patience and precision, and I like how it pushes me to stay calm and think carefully about each shot. Whether I’m out practicing my swing or walking through 18 holes with friends or family, I find it to be a great way to clear my mind.
As I look ahead to my final year of high school, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited for what’s next. Sports have shaped a big part of who I am, but I’m also always looking for ways to grow, learn new things, and prepare myself for the opportunities ahead both in college and beyond.
At present, my UTR is 10.67 in singles and 11.07 in doubles. While these numbers are important, I believe my growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement are what truly set me apart. I'm currently placing a strong focus on developing my tactical approach and physical conditioning, with the goal of elevating my UTR to the 11.2-11.5 range over the next 6 months. In the coming weeks, I'll be competing in back-to-back J100s Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
I am ranked #7 on Lotto Elite Hot 100 on TRN (As of May 19, 2025).
Over the past four months, I’ve recorded wins against a five star junior with a UTR above 12, an ITF top-500 ranked player, and a college player with a UTR over 12.
I take pride in maintaining a rigorous course load and a solid GPA. I currently hold a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.75 weighted GPA. I have taken 6 APs and I'm planning on taking 3 more AP classes for 12th grade.
I am scheduled to take the SAT in August 2025.

This is a recent clip of me playing against a professional player with a UTR 13. Although the opponent was dominant, I stayed focused, competed hard, and showcased my ability to stay in the fight even under pressure.
